Privacy Policy

THRASS® respects your privacy and is committed to handling your personal information responsibly.

This Privacy Policy explains how E Family Group Pty Ltd trading as THRASS® and The THRASS Institute (“we”, “us” or “our”), collects, uses, stores and shares personal information, and how you can contact us about your privacy.

It applies to our website, Shopify online store, educational resources, professional learning services, digital products and mobile applications, including apps available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) where it applies to us.

Information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:

  • Your name, email address, telephone number, and billing and delivery addresses.

  • Account information and communication preferences.
  • Information you provide when enquiring, requesting support, providing feedback or registering for professional learning.
  • Technical information collected through our website or digital products, as described below.

You can make general enquiries without identifying yourself where practicable. However, we may need certain information to fulfil an order, provide access to a product or respond to a request.

How we collect information

We collect personal information when you provide it to us, including when you place an order, create an account, complete a form, register for an event, subscribe to communications or contact us.

We may also receive information from a school or organisation purchasing on your behalf, and from service providers that help us process payments, fulfil orders and deliver our services.

Our website and digital products may collect technical information automatically through cookies and similar technologies, where enabled.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Process orders, payments, deliveries, returns and refunds.
  • Provide access to resources, digital products and purchased licences.
  • Manage accounts, bookings and professional learning services.
  • Respond to enquiries and provide customer and technical support.
  • Send order confirmations, product access instructions and service notices.

  • Prevent fraud, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations.

Where consent is required for a particular use of personal information, we will request it separately.

Our Shopify online store

Our online store is hosted by Shopify, which provides the platform we use to sell our products and services.

When you visit the store or make a purchase, Shopify and the payment provider you select process information needed to operate the checkout, process payment and support the transaction. We receive the order and customer information needed to fulfil your purchase and provide support.

Shopify may also process information for its own purposes as described in the Shopify Privacy Policy.

Digital products and mobile apps

We offer digital educational products and applications through our Shopify online store, the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

This policy applies to personal information THRASS® handles in connection with these products. Where a particular app has additional privacy information, we make that information available with the app and its store listing.

Purchases and product access

When you purchase a digital product or app, the information available to us depends on the platform used. This may include order or transaction references, the product purchased, purchase status and information needed to activate a licence, restore a purchase or provide support.

Apple and Google process information associated with your store account and purchases under their own privacy policies. Purchasing a THRASS® app does not necessarily give THRASS® access to your Apple or Google account details.

You can read their policies here:

Information collected by our apps

When you download, access or use our apps, we may collect limited information about your use of the app and your device. This may include:

  • information associated with the purchase or download of the app, such as purchase status, subscription status or transaction history, where this information is made available to us by the relevant app store
  • device and technical information, such as device type, operating system, app version and language settings
  • usage information, including how often the app is used, features accessed and interactions within the app
  • diagnostic information, including crash reports, performance data and technical errors
  • general location information, such as country or region, where provided through device or app store settings
  • where relevant to the features of the app, information relating to a child or student’s use of the app, such as their school, class or learning group, learning activity, progress, results, completed activities and other information used to support or monitor their learning
  • information you choose to provide to us, including when you contact us for support, feedback or other enquiries.

Where information relating to a child or student is collected, we only collect information that is relevant to the operation of the app, the provision of learning features or the monitoring of learning progress, where applicable.

Some information relating to your purchase, payment method or app store account may be collected and processed directly by Apple, Google or another app marketplace. We generally do not receive or store your full payment card details.

We may use this information to provide and maintain our apps, verify access or purchases, personalise or support learning experiences, monitor learning progress where relevant, improve functionality and performance, understand how our apps are used, provide customer support and maintain the security and integrity of our services.

We do not intentionally collect information that is not reasonably required for the operation, support or improvement of our apps.

Device permissions

Where an app requests a device permission, you can manage that permission through your device settings. Disabling a permission may affect the feature that requires it.

App accounts and deletion

Uninstalling an app does not necessarily delete information held by THRASS® or an external service provider. Deleting an account does not necessarily cancel a subscription managed through Apple or Google; subscriptions should also be managed through the relevant store account.

Children and student information

THRASS® resources are used by teachers, schools, parents, carers and learners, including children. We recognise the importance of protecting children’s privacy.

Please avoid including unnecessary student information in orders, enquiries or support requests.

Where a product collects personal information about a child, we will explain the collection and obtain any consent required by applicable law.

Parents, carers and authorised school representatives can contact us about information relating to a child. We may need to verify your identity and authority before responding.

Cookies and website analytics

Our website and online store use cookies and similar technologies to support functions such as shopping carts, checkout and account access.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings and any privacy controls available on our website. Blocking some cookies may affect website functionality.

Marketing communications

Where permitted, we may send you information about THRASS® resources, professional learning, product updates and offers.

You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or by contacting us. We may still send essential communications about your orders, accounts or services.

When we share information

We share personal information where reasonably necessary to operate our business and provide our services. Recipients may include providers of website hosting, ecommerce, payment processing, delivery, digital product access, IT support, communications and professional advice.

We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, or where you have authorised us to do so.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including legal, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements. When it is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.

Access, correction and privacy requests

You can contact us to request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. You can also request deletion or withdraw consent to processing that relies on your consent.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. If we cannot fulfil your request, we will explain why, subject to any legal restrictions.

Additional privacy rights may apply depending on where you live.

Privacy concerns and complaints

If you have a privacy concern, please contact us with details so we can investigate.
